Two Random Mani/Pedi Tips
I have two awesome mani/pedi tips I just had to share with you guys! You guys know how addicted to magazines I am(I have 9 current subscriptions I can think of at the moment and I know I’m probably forgetting a couple) and, as my fellow magazine lovers have probably noticed, quite a few of the more popular magazines have at least one book out. Well about two weeks ago I ordered Allure: Confessions of a Beauty Editor on a whim(you can get a copy for yourself on Amazon, I suggest getting a used copy which you can get for $4.28 shipped!) and I am so glad I decided to order it! It is filled with tons of great tips from makeup, skin care(face and body), hair, and everything in between! I haven’t gotten to try most of the things mentioned in the book but last night I tried two of them and they worked so well I just had to tell you guys.
The first one is great for those of use who a)live in a colder state(we may not have much snow here in Wisconsin this year but it sure is cold!) and/or b)have poor circulation to our feet(and therefore seem to have ice blocks attached to our legs where feet belong). It’s super simple and I don’t know why I never thought of this myself instead of letting my feet freeze while I wait for my toe nails to dry. All you do is take an old pair of socks you don’t mind cutting up a bit and cut the toes off like this..

Me Trying This For Myself(Yay For Obnoxious Nail Colors!)
This way you get to keep your feet a little warmer without messing up your pedicure!(I really wanna get toe socks and cut off the least amount of the toes as possible to give me just a bit more foot coverage)
The second tip can be used in a pedicure(like I did last night) or a manicure.(well I suppose the last one could too but you’d look a lot sillier with cut up socks on your hands than on your feet..) I always used to make fun of the cliché about “O-M-G! I like just totally broke a nail!”(yes, valley girl voice here people, it needed to be done) but once I got a little older(and quit biting my nails) I realized two things about breaking a nail; first, it can, and usually does, hurt like crazy, second, it’s kind of..sad, after letting them grow out and then feeling obligated to cut them all down to match the newly shorter nail. Well this won’t help with the first one but it will with the second! All you do is take a new(read: unused) tea bag, rip it open and dump the tea out(if you don’t do that right away you will inevitably manage to make a mess with it), then tear off a little piece of that gauzy material that is big enough to cover the tear in your nail(make all the gauze edges be torn off the bag, jagged edges blend into the nail better). Put a little super glue on the tear and put the gauze on it, without gluing your hands all together, and let dry for five minutes. Put some more super glue on top of it, being careful not to use too put because that just gives you more work in the next step, and let dry another five minutes. Then use a four-sided buffing block(nail file of fine grain sand paper works in a pinch, I personally just used a cheap nail file) to smooth it all out. Use a ridge filling base coat if you have it because it’ll help smooth things out a little more(I just used regular base and mine look fine) and paint and use top coat like normal. Mine actually looked like I hadn’t even mended them with just the clear base coat so if color isn’t your thing no worries!
I didn’t receive any free product or compensation for this post and there are no affiliate links in it, I’m just really excited about these ideas, lol.
Review & Giveaway: TeeWit(ENDED)
The wonderful people at TeeWit were nice enough to send me the above tracksuit to review and I really like it. They have tons of different designs to pretty much work for anyone. They have shirts(as well as other gifts) for moms, dads, step parents(here for stepfathers), godparents(here for godfathers, grandparents, babies, and even some adorable maternity wear! And the designs really are cute and funny!
The tracksuit they sent me is pretty nice. It’s warm and keeps me plenty comfy right now in our wonderful Wisconsin winter but the fabric still is light so I don’t get too warm when I’m in the house in a room with a space heater. I love the color too, I’m a big pink person, lol. The only things I don’t like about it is the pants have no elastic in the waistband, only a draw string which does come undone pretty easy sometimes, but not enough to be a deal breaker for me!
